The Ishikawa JET blog is aimed at foreigners in Ishikawa, whether that means you’re living there teaching as an ALT or passing through on a trip. It’s written by a few English teachers and occasional guest writers. We highlight local events, do restaurant reviews, suggest travel destinations, and give cultural tidbits. The blog is only a year old, but we already have over 150 posts up, so come check us out. If you’ve not in Ishikawa, I hope we inspire you to visit!
Ishikawa is that funny looking peninsula that sticks out of the Western side of Japan. We are a 4.5 hour bus ride away from Kyoto, or you can hop on the Thunderbird train and be here in 2.5 hours. Our largest (and arguably most important) city is Kanazawa, which is famous for having one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan—Kenrokuen. Kanazawa is also responsible for over 99% of gold leaf production (meaning that we’re partially responsible for making Kinkakuji look so impressive!), and has a nice-looking samurai district, a tea ceremony district, and the “ninja temple” full of exciting traps! The Ishikawa JET blog will soon be contributing a post with a recommended weekend trip around Kanazawa, and other sites worth visiting in Ishikawa Prefecture. Hope you venture north and check us out!
Admin says: Right now Ishikawa’s JETs are collecting recipes for a cookbook. Click here to see the recipe guidelines, you gourmands!
